Citadelle des Morts — Main Quest

Citadelle des Morts’ main quest — Treyarch never gave it a fancier name — is the trial Guy de Saint-Michel built for his four knightly sons and none of them finished: with all four upgraded Bastard Swords and all four Incantations, the crew decodes an alchemical wall in the Undercroft, salutes the Dining Hall statues in coded order, carries a Mystic Orb through four elemental challenges, and takes the Guardian Key to the Town Square statue — which stands up. The stone golem drags the squad into a lava arena for the boss fight, and the prize is the Obscurus Altilium, the amulet the dying Gabriel Krafft warns must never reach Richtofen.

Preparation

Before you start

Prerequisites

  • • Pack-a-Punch unlocked (the Oubliette crate and its Doppelghast)
  • • All four Bastard Swords earned and upgraded — Caliburn, Durendal, Balmung, Solais
  • • All four Incantations from the elemental rituals
  • • Melee Macchiato, for the Undercroft wall

Walkthrough

Step by step

  1. 01

    Krafft and the pages

    Talk to Krafft through his Dungeon cell door and gather the four Torn Pages from the Sitting Rooms.

  2. 02

    The alchemical wall

    Punch the Undercroft wall square with Melee Macchiato, shoot the six-symbol code in the order the Tavern’s numbered flasks give, and set the pages in the revealed book.

  3. 03

    Points of Power

    Charge the four rune-circle traps the pages mark — about ten kills inside each circle.

  4. 04

    Honor the dead

    With the matching sword drawn and its Incantation cast, salute each knight statue in the coded order — stag, raven, lion, dragon.

  5. 05

    The Mystic Orb

    Carry the orb through the four elemental challenge stations — fire kills, void kills, lightning kills and the light-orb run — and it opens the Secret Study, where Guy de Saint-Michel’s spectre surrenders the Guardian Key.

  6. 06

    The Guardian

    Take the key to the Town Square statue and fight the golem in its lava arena: break the seal on its back, then shoot the rotating weak points through its immunity phases as the floor shrinks. Incantation recharges spawn mid-arena.
